The Sardinian air is thick with tension this Friday as Cagliari welcomes a resurging Napoli to the Unipol Domus for a crucial Matchday 30 clash. With the finish line of the 2025/26 Serie A season in sight, both clubs find themselves fighting desperate battles at opposite ends of the table.

Napoli, under the stern hand of Antonio Conte, has finally clicked into gear. After a chaotic middle stretch, the Partenopei are hunting their fourth consecutive league win—a streak that has catapulted them back into a solid 3rd place. Meanwhile, Cagliari is treading water. Sitting 15th and only six points above the drop, Fabio Pisacane’s men are winless in six and coming off a demoralizing 3-1 loss to Pisa.

Team News: Absences and Adjustments

Cagliari:

The hosts are facing a mini-crisis at the back. Adam Obert is suspended, which is a massive blow given his recent consistency. Adding to Pisacane’s headache, veteran leader Yerry Mina is a major doubt. If the Colombian doesn’t make it, the Rossoblu lose their primary aerial threat and defensive organizer. Up front, they are still without the clinical (but injury-prone) Andrea Belotti, putting the goal-scoring burden squarely on the shoulders of the physical Leonardo Pavoletti.

Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Caprile; Ze Pedro, Dossena, Mina (?), Rodriguez; Adopo, Gaetano, Folorunsho; Palestra, Esposito, Kilicsoy.

Napoli:

Conte doesn’t like to rotate when he’s winning, but injuries have forced his hand. The absence of Giovanni Di Lorenzo is the headline news; his leadership and overlapping runs are nearly impossible to replicate. However, the form of Rasmus Højlund—who has hit double figures for the season—and a rejuvenated Matteo Politano means Napoli still boasts one of the most terrifying frontlines in the league.

Probable Lineup (4-4-2): Meret; Beukema, Buongiorno, Olivera, Spinazzola; Anguissa, Gilmour, McTominay, Santos; Politano, Højlund.

Tactical Battle & Prediction

Expect a gritty affair. Cagliari’s best chance is to sit in a low block and turn this into a war of attrition. They’ve managed to frustrate big sides at home before, and they’ll be banking on a set-piece or a moment of Pavoletti magic.

However, Napoli’s momentum feels too strong to ignore. They’ve won seven of the last ten meetings against the Islanders, and their ability to sustain pressure should eventually break Cagliari’s resolve. Napoli hasn’t kept a clean sheet in 11 games, so a “win to nil” is unlikely, but they have the quality to outscore anyone right now.

The Predicted Score: Cagliari 1-2 Napoli
