Sunday night at the Reale Arena felt like a turning point for Real Sociedad. After a bit of a shaky run lately, the Basque side looked sharp, hungry, and—most importantly—lethal in front of goal, securing a dominant 3-1 victory over a struggling Osasuna.
From the first whistle, La Real set the tempo. While Osasuna almost shocked the home crowd early when Victor Munoz rattled the post with a header, it was the wakeup call the hosts needed. The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when Mikel Oyarzabal coolly converted a penalty after Enzo Boyomo was caught handling the ball in the box.
But the night truly belonged to Gonçalo Guedes. Just four minutes after the opener, the Portuguese winger doubled the lead with a sublime solo effort, cutting in from the left and picking out the bottom corner while Sergio Herrera stood rooted to the spot. Guedes wasn’t done, either. Early in the second half, he latched onto a brilliant delivery from Beñat Turrientes to fire his second—and Sociedad’s third—effectively killing the contest.
Osasuna did manage a late consolation through Victor Munoz, who finished a tidy move involving Kike Barja, but it was too little, too late. The win lifts Real Sociedad into seventh, keeping their European dreams very much alive, while Osasuna heads home wondering where their defensive grit has gone.
