“He’s the Future”: Casemiro Drops Massive Verdict on Man Utd’s Kobbie Mainoo

0

In an exclusive interview that has sent shockwaves through the Manchester United fanbase, veteran midfield general Casemiro has finally broken his silence on the meteoric rise of Kobbie Mainoo. With United currently sitting comfortably in third place and eyeing a Champions League return, the Brazilian didn’t hold back in his praise for the 20-year-old sensation.

“Kobbie is the present and the future,” Casemiro told club media this week. “I think he is one of the best No. 8s in the world right now, and he can stay at that level for the next 12 years. He’s a player I really love playing with.”

The Resurrection Under Carrick

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Mainoo. Earlier in the 2025/26 campaign, rumors swirled that the youngster was looking for a way out after being surprisingly relegated to the bench under former boss Ruben Amorim.

However, the appointment of Michael Carrick in January 2024 has completely flipped the script. Carrick—a man who knows a thing or two about elite midfield play—has made Mainoo “undroppable.” Since January 17th, Kobbie has started every single Premier League game, rekindling the formidable partnership with Casemiro that first flashed brilliance under Erik ten Hag.

The “Elite” Mentality

What impresses the five-time Champions League winner most isn’t just Mainoo’s technical skill, but his head for the game.

“Football can’t change your mentality, but Kobbie has shown he hasn’t changed his focus once,” Casemiro added. “He always wants the ball. Whether it’s a Cup final or a rainy night at Newcastle, he stays the same. He already showed it in the Euros final and the FA Cup win over City. He is a great player.”

What This Means for United’s Summer

Casemiro’s comments come at a critical time. While the Brazilian himself has been linked with a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, his “passing of the torch” suggests he wants to leave the midfield in safe hands.

With reports that Manchester United have secured Mainoo’s contract renewal until 2027 (with an option for more), the club is clearly building around the Academy graduate. As Thomas Tuchel continues to give Mainoo minutes for England ahead of the 2026 World Cup, his stock is only going one way—UP.
