If you thought the FIFA Series was just a developmental kickabout, think again. The squad lists are dropping, and Nairobi is about to host some of the most lethal finishers and decorated defenders in the world. From European champions to homegrown legends, the Nyayo turf is going to be smoking.

Here are the heavy hitters you need to keep an eye on this April:

The Global Megastars (Australia)

The Matildas aren’t holding back. Even with a few tactical rotations, they are bringing a “who’s who” of world football:

Sam Kerr (Chelsea): The undisputed queen of the box. Fresh off the Asian Cup, the Chelsea forward and Australian captain is the biggest name to ever grace a Kenyan pitch in a competitive international setting.

Caitlin Foord (Arsenal): A defensive nightmare. The Arsenal winger brings world-class pace and creativity that will be a massive test for our Starlets’ backline.

Steph Catley (Arsenal): One of the best left-backs on the planet. Her delivery from set-pieces is pure gold.

Mackenzie Arnold (Portland Thorns): The “Brick Wall” herself. The Matildas’ goalkeeper is world-renowned for her penalty-saving heroics.

The Continental Queens (Malawi & Kenya)

Don’t sleep on the African talent. We have players who are currently dominating domestic and international leagues:

Tabitha Chawinga (Olympique Lyon): Currently tearing it up in France, Tabitha is widely considered one of the best players in the world right now. Her battle against the Australian defense will be worth the entry fee alone.

Temwa Chawinga (Kansas City Current): The other half of Malawi’s “Goal Machine” duo. Her return to the Scorchers squad makes them a terrifying underdog.

Mwanalima “Dogo” Adam (HB Koge): Our very own Kenyan maestro. Playing her trade in Denmark, she brings that European tactical edge and composure to the Starlets’ midfield.

Jentrix Shikangwa (Simba Queens): The big-match player. Whenever Kenya needs a goal, Jentrix usually finds a way to deliver.

The “Next Gen” to Watch

Keep an eye on Marion Serenge. The teenage prodigy from St. Noah (Uganda) has been the talk of the town after her U-17 World Cup exploits. This could be her breakout tournament on the senior stage
