The London Stadium Massacre: Mavropanos and Taty Crush Wolves in Four-Goal Thriller

0

If you were looking for a relegation dogfight at the London Stadium on Friday night, you were sorely disappointed. What we got instead was a clinical execution. West Ham didn’t just beat Wolves; they dismantled them 4-0 in a performance that finally showed what this Irons squad is capable of when their backs are against the wall.

First Half: The Calm Before the Storm

The first 40 minutes felt like typical “strugglers” football—lots of huff and puff but very little quality. Wolves actually looked decent early on, with Mosquera going close and Adam Armstrong working his socks off up top. But West Ham kept their cool, and just before the break, they struck.

Jarrod Bowen, who always seems to have Wolves’ number, whipped in a peach of a cross. Konstantinos Mavropanos rose like a skyscraper to power a header home. 1-0 at the half, and you could feel the relief in Stratford.

The Taty Show

Whatever Nuno Espirito Santo said at halftime worked wonders. The second half was one-way traffic. Around the hour mark, Valentín “Taty” Castellanos decided it was his time to shine.

66th Minute: A slick bit of play from Pablo set up Taty, who finished with the confidence of a man who hasn’t been struggling for wins.

69th Minute: Before Wolves could even catch their breath, Taty grabbed his second. A low drive, a tiny bit of luck with a deflection, and suddenly it was 3-0.

Game, set, match.

The Final Blow

Mavropanos wasn’t done yet, though. In the 83rd minute, the big Greek defender turned into an acrobat, smashing home a volley from a corner to make it 4-0. It was the kind of goal that has “Goal of the Month” written all over it, especially coming from a center-back.

The Fallout

This win is massive. It drags West Ham out of the bottom three and, beautifully for the Hammers faithful, dumps Spurs into the drop zone for the first time this season. For Wolves, it’s looking grim. Sitting at the bottom of the table after a 25-day break, they looked rusty and completely devoid of ideas in the final third.
