Lens Roar Back from the Dead: Ganiou Completes Stunning 3-2 Comeback Against Toulouse

LENS, France — Just when it looked like the title race was slipping away, RC Lens produced a Friday night miracle at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Down by two goals in under fifteen minutes, Les Sang et Or clawed their way back to a 3-2 victory, capped by a stoppage-time winner that nearly blew the roof off the stadium.

Disaster Strikes Early

The home crowd was silenced early as Toulouse raced into a shock lead. Midfielder Cristian Casseres Jr. opened the scoring in the 6th minute when his long-range effort somehow slipped through the fingers of Lens keeper Robin Risser. Before the hosts could regain their composure, 18-year-old Seny Koumbassa doubled the advantage in the 13th minute, pouncing on a loose ball following a corner.

The Fightback Begins

Lens, who have been dominant at home all season, refused to lie down. The momentum shifted just before halftime when Adrien Thomasson finished a slick team move to make it 2-1.

The second half was a relentless siege. Toulouse’s task became much harder when they were reduced to 10 men, and Lens finally capitalized. Wesley Saïd found the equalizer, setting up a frantic final ten minutes.

Stoppage-Time Heroics

With 42 total shots fired throughout the match, it felt like a third goal was inevitable. In the dying seconds of stoppage time, Ismaelo Ganiou became the hero, slotting home the winner to secure all three points.

The win puts Lens just one point behind leaders PSG—though the Parisians hold two games in hand—and provides a massive psychological boost ahead of their Coupe de France semi-final rematch against Toulouse this coming Tuesday.
