Real Madrid Alert! Mbappé Limps Off in Betis Stalemate—Is the Title Race Over?

0

Just when Real Madrid fans thought the night couldn’t get any worse after Héctor Bellerín’s last-minute heartbreaker, a much bigger shadow has fallen over the Bernabéu. Kylian Mbappé, the man Madrid counts on for magic, was forced off the pitch during Friday night’s 1-1 draw against Real Betis, leaving fans and management sweating over his fitness.

The Moment the Alarm Bells Rang

It happened in the 81st minute. Mbappé, who was making his landmark 100th appearance for Los Blancos, signaled to the bench that he couldn’t continue. He didn’t wait for the medical staff to linger; he headed straight for the tunnel, replaced by youngster Gonzalo García.

While the Frenchman didn’t find the net at La Cartuja, his presence is the engine of Madrid’s attack. Seeing him clutch at his left hamstring sent a chill through the Madridistas, especially with the season reaching its boiling point.

Arbeloa Plays it Cool

In the post-match press conference, manager Álvaro Arbeloa was predictably tight-lipped but clearly concerned.

“He felt some discomfort and asked to come off. We’ll have to see how it develops over the next few days,” Arbeloa told reporters.

Initial reports from the medical camp suggest a muscle overload or a mild strain in the left hamstring. While it doesn’t look like a season-ender, any time away for Mbappé is a massive blow, especially with a crucial trip to Espanyol and the looming El Clásico against Barcelona just around the corner.

Double Blow for the Giants

The injury news comes at the worst possible time. Real Madrid is already trailing Barcelona by eight points, and with Lamine Yamal also sidelined for the Catalans, the race for the title has turned into a war of attrition. With 24 goals in 28 league games this season, Mbappé isn’t just a player—he’s Madrid’s insurance policy.

Madrid fans are now checking their phones every five minutes for the official scan results. If the “discomfort” turns into a tear, the dream of a La Liga comeback might just have walked down that tunnel with him.
