“No Team Better Than Us”: Luis Enrique Throws Down the Gauntlet Ahead of Bayern Clash

0

If there’s one thing Luis Enrique doesn’t lack, it’s confidence. Ahead of tonight’s massive Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich, the PSG boss sat down for his press conference yesterday and didn’t pull any punches.

With the Parc des Princes set to rock, Enrique made a bold claim that has the football world buzzing: Paris Saint-Germain are currently the best team in Europe.

“We Aren’t Here to Negotiate”

Addressing the media on Monday, the Spaniard was asked if his side truly belongs among the continental elite. His response was classic Lucho: direct and defiant.

“In terms of what we have shown on the field, there is no team better than us,” Enrique stated. “You need to attack more than you defend if you want to win, and we know how hard that will be, but we’re not here to negotiate—we want to win.”

While he acknowledged that Bayern Munich and Arsenal have been the most “consistent” teams this season, he insisted that when it comes to raw performance and tactical delivery, his PSG squad stands alone at the top.

Squad Fitness Boost

The news only got better for the Parisians as Enrique confirmed a nearly full-strength squad.

Vitinha is back after recovering from a heel issue.

Achraf Hakimi is fit and available despite recent injury scares.

• Even young Quentin Ndjantou is “almost ready,” giving Enrique plenty of options to navigate the Bavarian threat.

The Tactical War: Enrique vs. Kompany

This isn’t just a match; it’s a clash of philosophies. Bayern, led by Vincent Kompany, arrive in Paris on a terrifying run of 16 wins in their last 17 games. They have Harry Kane—who has already bagged a staggering 53 goals this season—leading the line.

However, Enrique is banking on the “special connection” with the home fans to tilt the scales. Having already dispatched Chelsea and Liverpool in the knockout rounds, PSG is looking to prove that their status as defending champions isn’t a fluke.

Tonight, we find out if Enrique’s “no team better than us” claim holds water, or if Bayern’s machine-like consistency will silence the Parc des Princes.
