Galatasaray S.K. has firmly re-established its dominance as the premier force in Turkish football. As of May 2026, the “Lions” have not only consolidated their domestic supremacy but have also made significant strides back onto the elite European stage, driven by a blend of world-class talent and tactical discipline.

Domestic Dominance: The Double

Galatasaray secured a historic domestic double in the 2024/25 season, claiming both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup. This achievement underscored the club’s consistency and depth, allowing them to pull further ahead in the race for the most top-flight titles in Turkey.

Süper Lig: The triumph was marked by a relentless attacking display, ensuring the trophy returned to Rams Park.

Turkish Cup: The victory in the cup final solidified their status as the kings of Turkish knockout football.

The Osimhen Factor

Central to this success was the acquisition and performance of Victor Osimhen. His move to Galatasaray proved to be one of the most impactful transfers in the league’s history.

Record-Breaker: Osimhen shattered the long-standing record for the most goals by a foreign player in a single Süper Lig season, previously held by Mario Jardel.

Statistical Peak: During the double-winning campaign, he netted 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Current Form: His momentum has continued into the 2025/26 season, where he has remained the league’s most clinical finisher despite minor injury setbacks.

European Resurgence

Galatasaray’s ambitions extend far beyond Turkey. In the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, the club has successfully navigated the new “league phase” format to advance to the knockout rounds—the first time they have reached this stage in several years.

Osimhen’s influence has been equally felt in Europe, where he recorded 7 goals and 3 assists in 9 appearances during the league phase. This run has restored Galatasaray’s reputation as a “giant killer” capable of competing with Europe’s wealthiest clubs.
