Title Lockdown? Gor Mahia vs Kenya Police: The Battle for the 22nd Star

0

It’s Sunday, May 10, 2026, and if you aren’t heading to Nyayo Stadium, you’re missing the biggest game of the weekend. This isn’t just a match; it’s a collision between the league leaders and the defending champions. Gor Mahia is standing on the doorstep of history, needing just two points from their remaining four games to secure an unprecedented 22nd title.

But standing in their way is a Kenya Police FC side that refuses to go quietly. The “Law Enforcers” are unbeaten in their last eight matches and have been talking big all week about keeping the title race alive.

The Tactical Chess Match

This game features the two best defenses in the land. Police have conceded only 18 goals this season, while K’Ogalo has let in just 19. It’s going to be a cagey, high-stakes encounter where one mistake decides everything.

Gor Mahia comes in hot after a 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz. The big news? Top scorer Felix Oluoch is finally back in the squad after a knee injury. While he might start on the bench, having him as an option is a massive boost for Leonardo Neiva. In his absence, Shariff Musa and Ezekiel Adukwaw have been doing the heavy lifting, and they’ll need to be clinical against a Police backline led by the veteran Abud Omar.

Police’s Revenge Mission

Kenya Police haven’t forgotten the 2-0 beating they took from Gor back in November. Coach Nicholas Muyoti has his boys disciplined and dangerous on the break. With Eric Zakayo and Yves Koutiama in fine form, they have the pace to hurt Gor if the league leaders get too comfortable.

Muyoti was clear in the buildup: “We are not done with the title.” A win for Police would move them closer to second-placed AFC Leopards and, more importantly, delay Gor Mahia’s party.

The Prediction

History tells us these two don’t usually produce goal-fests—six of their last seven meetings have seen under 2.5 goals. With so much on the line, expect a tactical battle. Gor Mahia is unbeaten in nine home games and they have that “champion’s aura” right now.

My Pick: A hard-fought 1-0 win for Gor Mahia or a 0-0 draw. Either way, the title is staying in the green half of the city.
