The King Stay King! Florentino Pérez Crushes Rival in Historic Real Madrid Presidential Election

0

In the early hours of Monday morning, the most powerful man in club football tightened his absolute grip on power. Florentino Pérez has officially been re-elected as the president of Real Madrid, securing a fresh mandate that will keep him at the helm of the world’s richest football club until 2030. It was a historic day in the Spanish capital, marking the very first time in twenty long years that Madrid members actually had to cast ballots in a contested presidential election. But despite facing a fierce and energetic challenge from thirty-seven-year-old renewable energy billionaire Enrique Riquelme, the seventy-nine-year-old construction magnate proved completely untouchable.

The final official tally from the Valdebebas training ground confirmed an overwhelming victory for the incumbent. Pérez captured a massive sixty-five percent of the total vote, with twenty-one thousand seven hundred and forty-one members backing his continuity. Riquelme put up a commendable fight, pulling in thirty-five percent, but it simply wasn’t enough to dethrone a man who has brought seven European Cups to the Santiago Bernabéu. Pérez had dramatically called the snap election last month—two years before his previous term was set to end—following a highly frustrating, trophyless season and mounting media campaigns against his board. His calculated gamble paid off beautifully, completely flushing out his opposition and locking down his leadership for another four years.

With this major victory secured, Pérez is wasting absolutely no time triggering a massive summer revolution that will shake European football. In his triumphant victory speech, the president confirmed that a deal is already in place to bring back legendary former manager José Mourinho for a sensational second spell in the dugout. To back the Special One, Pérez promised a staggering hundred and fifty million euro club-record signing to be unveiled this Tuesday, alongside immediate defensive reinforcements in Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.

Beyond the star-studded transfers, this election win gives Pérez a powerful mandate to push forward with his highly debated, revolutionary financial plans. While Riquelme campaigned heavily against what he labeled the “privatization” of the club, Pérez reassured emotional supporters that Real Madrid will always remain one hundred percent owned by its members. However, he is now expected to head to an extraordinary general assembly to seek approval for a historic plan to sell a minor five percent stake in a club subsidiary to outside investors—a move he insists will secure their financial dominance against state-backed clubs for decades to come.
