In a cagey Premier League battle at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Manchester United snatched a vital 1-0 win over Everton thanks to a moment of magic from impact substitute Benjamin Sesko. The result lifts United back into the top four, cementing their momentum under interim boss Michael Carrick — and leaving Everton still searching for consistency.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 71st minute, when United launched a rapid counter-attack. Matheus Cunha’s brilliant long pass found Bryan Mbeumo, who cut inside and released Sesko to drill home a composed finish past Jordan Pickford.
It was yet another decisive contribution off the bench from Sesko, underlining his growing reputation as one of the Premier League’s most effective super-subs this season.
Despite dominating possession in spells and turning the pressure up late with a flurry of corners, Everton couldn’t find a way through. United’s defence — marshalled by goalkeeper Senne Lammens — held firm, frustrating the home side’s attempts to force an equaliser.
