Rumours around Julián Álvarez’s transfer to Barcelona are heating up again ahead of the summer window, with multiple reports suggesting that the Argentine striker could depart Atlético de Madrid to become a major long‑term addition for the Catalan giants after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Argentine media, Barcelona are actively tracking Álvarez — seen as a potential successor to ageing frontmen — and the 26‑year‑old is reportedly open to the idea of joining a club with stronger title prospects. Journalists such as Hugo Balassone claim that Álvarez “will play at Barcelona after the World Cup,” citing his desire to lift more major trophies and compete at the highest level.

Barcelona’s interest isn’t new. The club have monitored Álvarez for some time as they plan for life beyond Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is set to expire soon, and believe the Argentine’s technical ability would fit Hansi Flick’s attacking style. Team‑mates and rivals alike have described him as a “world‑class striker” capable of thriving at Camp Nou.

Atletico Madrid, however, are expected to make negotiations difficult. They hold Álvarez’s contract until 2030 and value him highly, meaning any deal would likely require a significant transfer fee — potentially a major financial outlay for Barcelona or any interested club.

In summary, while nothing is finalized, Barcelona remain one of the top contenders to sign Álvarez, with a move most likely to materialise after the 2026 World Cup if both parties reach an agreement.

Let me know if you’d like a breakdown of his likely transfer fee, contract details, or how he might fit tactically into Barcelona’s lineup!
