In one of the most emotional nights of the UEFA Champions League playoffs, Juventus came this close to pulling off a legendary comeback — only for Galatasaray to dash their hopes in extra time and progress to the knockout stages 7-5 on aggregate.

⚽ Final Score:

Juventus 3–2 Galatasaray (after extra time) — but Galatasaray go through on a 7–5 aggregate.

Juventus Almost Scripts a Miracle… But Falls Short

Trailing 5–2 from the first leg in Istanbul, Juve needed a massive response in Turin — and they gave one. Manuel Locatelli fired home a penalty before half-time to spark hope. Shortly after, Lloyd Kelly was sent off, leaving Juventus with ten men for most of the second half.

That didn’t stop them. Federico Gatti headed Juve level on the night, then Weston McKennie nodded in the equalizer to send the match into extra time amid roaring crowd energy.

👉 Fans and commentators hailed the effort as heroic — a testament to Juventus’ never-say-die spirit.

⏱️ Extra Time Heartbreak

With momentum firmly with Juve, it looked like they might complete the greatest comeback of the season. But Galatasaray struck twice in extra time:

  • Victor Osimhen broke Juve hearts early in ET.
  • Barış Alper Yilmaz sealed the deal deep into stoppage time.

That late twist sent Galatasaray into the Champions League last 16 — their first time there in over a decade — and left Juventus to reflect on what might have been.
