The Spotify Camp Nou is bracing for a Sunday afternoon showdown as Barcelona host a tricky Sevilla side in Matchday 28. With Real Madrid still stalking the top spot, Hansi Flick’s men know they can’t afford a single stumble, especially against the one team that managed to truly embarrass them earlier this season.

Barcelona sit comfortably at the summit with 67 points, fueled by an incredible perfect home record—13 wins from 13 games. However, they are coming off a grueling midweek trip to Newcastle in the Champions League, and fatigue is starting to look like the only opponent that can actually slow them down.

Sevilla, currently languishing in 14th place, arrive with a chip on their shoulder. While they haven’t won at the Camp Nou in over two decades, they hold the distinction of being the only team to crush Barça 4-1 back in October. Since the turn of the year, they’ve become “stalemate specialists,” but with five games unbeaten, they have the defensive grit to make this an uncomfortable afternoon for the leaders.

Team News: The Gavi Miracle?

The headline news in Catalonia is the potential return of Gavi. After 204 days out with a serious knee injury, the midfield engine has finally received medical clearance. While he won’t start, the roar when he begins warming up on the touchline might be the loudest moment of the match.

Flick has some major defensive headaches, though. Jules Koundé, Frenkie de Jong, and Andreas Christensen are all ruled out. With Eric García also nursing a muscular issue, we might see 18-year-old Xavi Espart handed his first professional start at right-back.

For Sevilla, the veteran César Azpilicueta is expected to lead the backline, but they’ll be without Kike Salas and Marcao. Up front, the pacy Akor Adams will be the primary threat to a rotated Barça defense.

Prediction: Flick’s heavy rotations and the looming Champions League second leg might make this closer than the table suggests. However, Barça’s home aura is too strong. 3-1 Barcelona.
