The road to North America 2026 has reached its final, frantic crossroad. While 42 nations have already booked their flights to the first-ever 48-team World Cup, six seats are still empty. This week—specifically Thursday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 31—the drama moves to the playoff brackets where dreams will be made or crushed in 90 minutes.

Whether it’s the high-stakes European “Pathways” or the Inter-Confederation tournament in Mexico, here is everything you need to know to catch every tackle and every tear.

1. The European (UEFA) Playoffs: 4 Spots Left

In Europe, 16 teams have been whittled down into four “mini-tournaments” (Paths A, B, C, and D). Each path features two semifinals tonight, with the winners advancing to a “winner-takes-all” final next Tuesday.

The Big Ties Tonight (Thursday, March 26):

Italy vs. Northern Ireland: 19:45 GMT / 15:45 ET. Gennaro Gattuso’s men are desperate to avoid a third straight World Cup absence.

Wales vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina: 19:45 GMT / 15:45 ET. A massive night in Cardiff as the Dragons look to return to the big stage.

• **Czech Republic vs. Republic of Ireland: 19:45 GMT / 15:45 ET. The Irish travel to Prague for a “do-or-die” encounter.

How to Watch:

UK: BBC iPlayer (Free) for Italy and Wales games; Amazon Prime for others.

US: FOX Sports (FS1/FS2), Vix, and Fubo.

Global: FIFA+ will stream several UEFA matches in selected territories.

2. The Inter-Confederation Playoffs: 2 Spots Left

For the first time, a dedicated “Playoff Tournament” is being held in the host nation, Mexico, as a test run for the summer. Six teams from across the globe (AFC, CAF, CONMEBOL, OFC, and CONCACAF) are fighting for the final two tickets.

Tonight’s Semifinals (Thursday, March 26):

Bolivia vs. Suriname: 16:00 local (CST) in Monterrey. The winner faces Iraq on Tuesday.

New Caledonia vs. Jamaica: 21:00 local (CST) in Guadalajara. Andre Blake and the Reggae Boyz must win to face DR Congo in the final.

How to Watch:

Worldwide: FIFA+ is the official home for these matches, streaming them completely free in most countries.

US: FS1 and FOX Sports app.

Mexico: TUDN and Vix.

The Stakes: Who Joins the Party?

The winners of these six finals don’t just qualify; they find out their fate immediately. The Final Draw is set for December 5th in Washington D.C., and these six “Playoff Winners” are already penciled into Pot 4.

Will we see a debut for New Caledonia or Suriname? Or will veterans like Italy and Wales restore order? The next five days will tell the story.
