The Yellow Wall is bracing for impact. This Saturday, April 11th, the Signal Iduna Park hosts a clash that could settle the hierarchy of the Bundesliga’s chasing pack. Borussia Dortmund, revitalized and hunting for the runners-up spot, face a Bayer Leverkusen side that is finally finding its feet again after a post-Alonso identity crisis.

Dortmund: The Niko Kovac Surge

It’s been a wild ride in Dortmund. After the Nuri Şahin experiment fizzled out, Niko Kovac stepped into the dugout and stabilized a wobbling ship. BVB are currently on a tear—four consecutive league wins, including a professional 2-0 dispatching of Stuttgart last time out.

Sitting comfortably in 2nd place with 64 points, Dortmund have turned their home ground into a slaughterhouse, winning 15 of their last 18 in front of the Yellow Wall. However, they aren’t without issues tonight. Emre Can is sidelined with an injury, and the electric Karim Adeyemi is serving a suspension. They’ll lean heavily on Serhou Guirassy (13 goals) and the creative spark of Julian Brandt to break down a tricky Leverkusen defense.

Leverkusen: The Hjulmand Resurgence

Life after Xabi Alonso hasn’t been easy, and the short-lived Erik ten Hag era is a period most Leverkusen fans would rather forget. Enter Kasper Hjulmand. Since taking over, he’s guided Die Werkself to the Cup semifinals, and although they were recently knocked out of Europe by Arsenal, their domestic form is stabilizing.

Leverkusen currently sit in 6th place with 49 points. They finally broke a frustrating drawing streak with a chaotic 6-3 win over Wolfsburg, proving they still have one of the most explosive attacks in Germany. Patrik Schick and Malik Tillman are the danger men, but they’ll be sweating on the fitness of English defender Jarell Quansah, who is a major doubt with a muscle problem.

The H2H Reality Check

Interestingly, the “home advantage” hasn’t meant much in this fixture lately. In their last four meetings, the away side has walked away with the points every single time. Leverkusen even dumped Dortmund out of the DFB-Pokal on this very pitch earlier this season. Dortmund will be desperate to prove that lightning doesn’t strike twice.

The Verdict: A High-Scoring Thriller

Dortmund are the more stable side, but Leverkusen’s “all-out-attack” philosophy under Hjulmand makes them a nightmare to predict. Expect goals, drama, and a high-octane tempo from the first whistle.

Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Bayer Leverkusen
