The Scudetto race is reaching a fever pitch, and this Sunday, the spotlight falls on the Ennio Tardini as Parma prepares to host a relentless Napoli. On paper, it looks like a routine afternoon for the visitors, but in the heat of a title hunt, nothing is ever quite that simple.

The State of Play

Napoli is currently breathing down the neck of league leaders Inter Milan. Sitting in 2nd place with 65 points, Antonio Conte’s side has been the definition of “momentum,” riding a scorching five-match winning streak. They aren’t just winning; they are strangling games, combining defensive grit with clinical efficiency.

Parma, meanwhile, is treading water in 13th place (35 points). While they are eight points clear of the drop zone, their recent form has been worrying. They haven’t tasted victory in their last five outings (D3, L2), and a toothless attack—netting only 22 goals all season—is starting to become a major liability.

Team News: The Injury Bug Bites

Conte has a bit of a selection headache heading into this one. Napoli’s medical room is suddenly crowded with some heavy hitters:

Napoli: Romelu Lukaku is officially out with a muscle injury, leaving a massive void up top. They’re also sweating on the fitness of Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Amir Rrahmani, and David Neres, all of whom are listed as doubtful.

Parma: There is a silver lining for the hosts. Pontus Almqvist has completed his three-month rehab and is expected to be in the squad, providing some much-needed depth.

Tactical Outlook

Expect Parma to set up a low block and pray for a repeat of their January encounter, where they managed to frustrate Napoli into a 0-0 draw. Without Lukaku’s physical presence to pin the defenders, Napoli will rely heavily on the trickery of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and the late runs of Matteo Politano to break the deadlock.

Parma’s best chance lies in the transition, but against a Conte-drilled defense that has kept clean sheets in their last two games, those chances will be few and far between.

The Verdict

Parma is stubborn at home, and Napoli’s injury list is genuinely concerning. However, the quality gap is still a canyon. Even without Lukaku, Napoli has too much tactical discipline to let this slip. It won’t be a goal-fest, but the Partenopei should find a way.

Final Score Prediction: 2-0 Napoli win
