Inter Milan moved one step closer to the Serie A title on Sunday night, pulling off a breathtaking 4-3 comeback victory against a fearless Como side at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia. In a match that had fans on the edge of their seats, the Nerazzurri turned a two-goal deficit into a vital win that extends their lead at the top to nine points.

The atmosphere in Como was electric as the “Lariani” looked to derail the leaders’ title charge. For much of the first half, it seemed like they would do exactly that. Alex Valle opened the scoring in the 36th minute, and when young star Nico Paz doubled the lead just before the break, San Siro loomed like a distant memory. Inter looked sluggish without captain Lautaro Martinez, and Cesc Fabregas’s men were full of belief.

The Thuram and Dumfries Show

However, football is a game of moments, and Marcus Thuram provided the spark Inter desperately needed. With the last kick of the first half, he poked home a Nicolo Barella cross to make it 2-1.

That goal shifted the momentum entirely. Just four minutes into the second half, a massive defensive mix-up between Como keeper Jean Butez and Marc-Oliver Kempf allowed Thuram to loop the ball into an empty net for his brace. From there, Denzel Dumfries took over. The Dutchman headed Inter into the lead in the 58th minute before smashing home his second of the night in the 72nd to make it 4-2.

A Frantic Finish

Despite the collapse, Como refused to lie down. They dominated possession (60%) and peppered Yann Sommer’s goal with 24 shots. A late penalty from Lucas Da Cunha in the 89th minute set up a nervy finish, and Alberto Moreno nearly snatched a draw when his late effort rattled the crossbar.

Inter manager Cristian Chivu praised his side’s “maturity” after the whistle, and with only six games left, the Scudetto is now firmly in their hands. For Como, it was a brave performance that proves they belong among Italy’s elite, even if they left with nothing to show for it.
