The lights of San Siro were bright, but the goals were nowhere to be found as AC Milan and Juventus played out a tactical 0-0 draw on Sunday night. In a match defined by defensive discipline and high-stakes caution, neither side could find the breakthrough, leaving the race for Champions League qualification as tight as ever.

For the Rossoneri, it was a night of “what could have been,” while the Bianconeri will likely leave Milan the happier of the two sides, having survived a second-half scare to maintain their position in the top four.

A Game of Inches and VAR Drama

The first half was a masterclass in Italian defensive organization. Juventus thought they had snatched the lead in the 37th minute when Khéphren Thuram found the back of the net after a chaotic sequence in the box. However, the celebrations were short-lived as a VAR review confirmed the Frenchman was offside in the buildup.

Milan had their own moments of frustration, with Christian Pulisic looking lively but struggling to find the final ball against a deep-sitting Juve backline.

Woodwork Rattled at the San Siro

The intensity shifted up a gear after the break. In the 50th minute, the stadium almost erupted when Alexis Saelemaekers unleashed a powerful strike that beat Michele Di Gregorio, only to see the ball crash off the underside of the crossbar and bounce clear.

Juventus responded with a flurry of late chances. Francisco Conceição forced a world-class save from Mike Maignan, who was making his 200th appearance for Milan, while substitute Jonathan David flashed a header just wide in the dying minutes. Ultimately, both keepers remained unbeaten, ensuring the spoils were shared.

The Champions League Race

This result keeps AC Milan in third place with 67 points, holding a slim three-point lead over Juventus in fourth (64 points). With only four matches remaining in the Serie A season, the draw feels like a missed opportunity for Milan to pull away, but a vital point for Juve in their quest to return to Europe’s elite competition.
