Mombasa United are closing in on a historic promotion to the Kenyan Premier League. The National Super League (NSL) leaders remains confident after a string of vital wins. Specifically, their recent victory over Gucha Stars in Kisii has put them within touching distance of the top flight.

The club currently sits second in the table with 61 points. They are level with Migori Youth but have a game in hand. This incredible form has transformed the Coast-based side into the team to beat.

Defending the Home Fortress

A key part of this success is their unbeaten home record at Mombasa Sports Club. Team manager Gilbert Wesonga recently hailed the squad’s mental strength. He believes their 100% home win rate will be the deciding factor.

“We aim to win the league and secure promotion,” Wesonga told reporters. Despite a recent coaching change, the players have remained remarkably focused. They have turned their home ground into a fortress that no opponent can breach.

Staying Focused for the Finish

Striker Fidel Madiela has been instrumental in this promotion charge. He has consistently found the back of the net in crucial moments. However, he warned his teammates against early celebrations.

“We have worked hard to reach this position,” Madiela stated. “But the job is not done yet.” The squad knows that the final few fixtures will be a test of character. If they maintain this rhythm, KPL football is coming to Mombasa next season.
