In a stunning turn of events, Liverpool legend Andy Robertson has reached a verbal agreement to join Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent.

The 32-year-old Scotland captain emotionally bid farewell to Anfield following Liverpool’s final match of the season against Brentford, receiving an emotional guard of honor. With his contract expiring on June 30, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped his famous “Here we go!”, confirming that Robertson has chosen Spurs as his next destination.

De Zerbi’s First Signing After Relegation Great Escape

The move marks a massive statement of intent for Tottenham’s newly appointed manager, Roberto De Zerbi. Spurs narrowly avoided a catastrophic relegation to the Championship, securing survival on the final day of the season with a gritty victory over Everton to finish 17th.

Robertson’s arrival serves multiple critical needs for De Zerbi’s squad. Following a chaotic, high-pressure season, the Italian manager desperately wanted a proven Premier League champion and a vocal leader in the dressing room. Robertson brings an unmatched elite-level experience, having won every major trophy available during his glittering nine-year spell on Merseyside.

Snubbing Juventus to Honor the “Pact”

Tottenham had initially tried to sign the relentless left-back back in January, but the deal collapsed when Liverpool failed to secure an immediate replacement. Robertson stayed on to see out the season under Arne Slot, even as playing time became limited behind summer signing Milos Kerkez.

Once the season concluded, Italian giants Juventus made an aggressive, late attempt to hijack the transfer and lure him to Serie A. However, Robertson fiercely rejected the Italian outfit, choosing to honor the verbal “pact” he made with Tottenham six months ago. The veteran defender is expected to finalize his contract details quickly, aiming to secure his future before leading Scotland out at the World Cup.
