AC Milan Land French Gem Sankhoun Diawara to Bolster Squad Future

AC Milan are continuing their aggressive push to recruit top young talent, closing in on a deal for French defender Sankhoun Diawara from Troyes.

The 20-year-old center-back enjoyed a standout breakout campaign in France, establishing himself as one of Ligue 2’s most promising young defenders with his dominant aerial presence and composure on the ball. His performances quickly caught the attention of European scouts, prompting the Rossoneri hierarchy to intercept interest from other clubs—including Scottish giants Rangers—to seal his signature.

While initial reports suggested Diawara was bound for the Milan Futuro developmental setup, club decision-makers are already considering integrating the France U19 international straight into the senior group. Standing tall as a left-footed defensive anchor, Diawara is viewed internally as an ideal long-term project and cover for Strahinja Pavlović.

For AC Milan, wrapping up a deal worth around €3 million represents a shrewd piece of business. It locks down another high-upside prospect while adding key defensive depth ahead of a demanding domestic and European campaign.
