The summer transfer window is officially heating up, and AS Roma are on the verge of pulling off one of the biggest moves of the off-season! Dynamic Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville is edging closer to a blockbuster move to the Italian capital, with West Ham United finally accepting an improved package from the Giallorossi.

After a few intense days of back-and-forth negotiations, Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico raised the stakes with a total package worth around €50 million (€45m fixed fee plus €5m in add-ons). That figure is set to break records, making the former Leeds and West Ham star the most expensive signing in AS Roma’s history—surpassing the likes of Patrik Schick and Tammy Abraham.

Why Roma are splurging on Summerville

Summerville was a absolute standout player during his time in England and carried that electric form right into the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Netherlands. His blistering pace, ruthless 1v1 dribbling, and knack for chipping in with big goals made him a nightmare for defenders on the world stage.

Roma’s hierarchy saw him as an essential piece to revamp their frontline. The plan in the capital is to pair Summerville on the wing opposite his fellow countryman Donyell Malen, giving Roma one of the most terrifying, unpredictable wide pairings in Serie A.

Personal terms are already completely sorted. Summerville has reportedly agreed to a contract worth around €4 million per season plus performance bonuses to make the move to Italy, giving his full “green light” to the project.

West Ham’s Transfer Dominoes Ready to Fall

While losing a player of Summerville’s sheer talent hurts West Ham fans, the massive cash injection could not have come at a better time.

The Hammers’ transfer business had been largely stalled while waiting to sort out high-profile exits. With €50m now effectively in the bank, manager Nuno Espírito Santo and the recruitment team can immediately pivot to retooling the squad for the upcoming campaign. Expect quick moves for a replacement left-winger and added defensive depth over the coming days.

The official announcements and medicals in Rome are expected to follow shortly as all final details are completed!
